Monroe County Dog Shelter & Animal Welfare Department is a county-operated public service focused on sheltering dogs, supporting responsible adoption placement, and investigating animal welfare concerns.

Mission

Provide safe shelter for dogs, enforce county dog-control laws, and connect adoptable dogs with responsible homes through clear, structured, and accessible public workflows.

Department Scope

  • County-run public service department
  • Houses dogs only (does not house cats)
  • Investigates all animal welfare complaints
  • Supports county dog licensing compliance
